Hawaiian Islands Monk Seal Count & Beach Clean Up.
OCTOBER 19th 9:00-12:00
Little Monk Seal Montessori is participating as a group to help clean up the beach and look for seals! The purpose of this event is to walk the beaches of Maui looking for our Endangered Monk Seals while we clean up the seal's shoreline. The whole island will be covered in different zones simultaneously conducting research. Each group is assigned a zone on all different locations of the island.
Little Monk Seal Montessori's location is conveniently at Kam 1, 2 and 3 beaches in Kihei. We will meet at 9:00 am in the grassy area at Kam 1. Across from Dolphin Plaza and Pizza Hut.
Bring a bag to collect trash, gloves, water, snacks and lots of sunscreen (reef safe of course).
We will explain the protocol when everyone arrives. Although we will be walking and cleaning up the beach, there will also be plenty of time to play and visit with classmates.
This is a fun family event that allows us to get out in the community and take care of our environment. The curriculum at LMSM reflects protecting our surroundings and giving back to others. Let's all get out there and do our part! We might even spot a seal!
